[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_03] The Disappearing Car by Tropical Pixies I live in California. It's broad daylight, 4.30pm. I'm driving through a neighborhood that I don't know well. Just literally driving. I turned into a neighborhood, obviously thinking there would be an out at the other end, trying to find my way back out.
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_03] A few streets ahead of me, I saw a black Mini Cooper convertible. It turned onto the street ahead of me. I figured I would follow, since it clearly knew the area better than I did, and I assumed they were going to find another way out. And I know people are going to ask why I didn't use my Maps app. I was just looking at houses. I'm sure everyone drives through neighborhoods looking at cute houses like that. I wasn't paying attention to maps.
[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_03] So, I kept a steady distance behind these people. Nothing strange, no weird driving. They were just driving normal. Just a normal car, leading the way out. I watched them reach the end of the street and make a right turn. We kept going straight toward that same intersection. My mom thought, Okay, we must be at the end. And since we saw them turn, we can turn there too. Except when we got there,
[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_03] there was no turn. There was no street. It was just a dead end. It was a roundabout, with a fence around it. And if you know California, it was a mountain, with shrubs and wild weeds. This wasn't any kind of misjudgment. This really was a dead end. There wasn't any driveway, no alley, no hidden road, no time for a car to reverse, or pull into a house. Nothing.
[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_03] But I saw that Mini Cooper turn. I watched the car turn around the corner. I know what I saw. And there was absolutely nowhere for it to go. The closer we got, the more wrong it felt. My brain kept trying to make sense of it. Maybe I misremembered. Maybe the street was angled weird. Maybe there was a driveway, and I didn't notice. But, no, it was a dead end. A dead end where a car had just turned.
[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_03] I'm not someone who jumps to the paranormal conclusion, or glitches, but this really scared me. I can't stop replaying it. I feel like I witnessed something I wasn't supposed to. It seems like I watched somebody clip out of existence. Has anyone else in California, or anywhere, ever experienced something like this? Glitches, disappearing cars, roads that don't exist, anything like that? Because right now,
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_03] I'm genuinely freaked out.
[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_02] A Family's UFO Encounters, by Adam. This trio of stories was featured on Graveyard Tales last year, during their Listener Stories episodes. If you don't use them,
[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_02] I completely understand. I would just like these stories to go out to as many people as possible, because I think they're unique. Before I begin, I need to state that I have had a history of unexplained markings on my body, that appear when I wake up in the morning. One time, there was a strange, mesh-patterned bruise on my thigh. The pattern didn't match anything that I owned, or anything that I had interacted with. Another time,
[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_02] I woke up with a handprint-shaped bruise on my body. The hand wasn't in a place where I could position my own hand, and there was no logical reason for it. It's as if someone had grabbed me, and was holding me down. Now, on to the story. We were in Cancun, Mexico, on our honeymoon in 2010. Our hotel room was on the 10th floor. It had this flashing light, on what I would assume was a smoke detector.
[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_02] It was like a mini-strobe light, and it would flash once a minute, really quickly. On our second or third night there, I had a very intense dream. I was in bed, surrounded by gray aliens. I could only see them when the smoke alarm flashed. I also seemed to be seeing myself from above at times. Kind of an out-of-body experience. I got the sense that their craft was hovering right off the balcony.
[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_02] It was such an unnerving dream, that it stuck with me the rest of the trip. I still remember it like it was yesterday. My second story happened to my mother, in the 1980s. Full disclosure, we lived less than five miles from an airport. However, I believe once you hear this story, that fact won't matter to you. It was about 11 o'clock p.m., and my mother was walking around,
[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_02] closing windows before she went to bed. It was in the dead of summer. We had no air conditioning, so we kept the windows open to try to keep cool. But my mother was paranoid enough to lock the windows before she went to bed. As she approached one of the windows, she looked outside. Above the road, practically grazing the top of the trees, was a round, bright light. It was as white as the road,
[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_02] and just gliding down the street. It was moving at maybe 5 to 10 miles an hour. All the windows were still open, and there was no sound at all. She watched it glide down the road, until it went out of sight. So that's my mother's story. No sound, and no explanation. Now my father's story is the most incredible of the three. He was a young man
[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_02] of maybe 12 years old. His neighbor had a barn. One night, he looked out his window. He saw a craft hovering over the barn. There was no noise, and there was a large spotlight coming off the craft and illuminating the barn. Then, it zipped out of sight. That story by itself is incredible enough. But what happened about a decade later makes it even better.
[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_02] At this point, my father was in his early 20s, and had moved away. He came back to visit. While there, he went across the street to check on the old lady who lived there. As they were chatting on the porch, she told him that about a decade ago, she saw a flying saucer hovering over his neighbor's barn. They were looking out the window on the same night at the same time and saw the same craft. Well,
[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_02] those are my stories. I hope you enjoyed them.

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_03] My grandma practiced voodoo in South Louisiana by MajesticWelder20. I've gone back and forth on posting this because I already know that people are going to say that I'm exaggerating, and it's not that scary. However, my grandma passed away a few months ago, and I've been thinking about this almost every day since then because now I can't ask her what actually happened. My mom won't talk about it.
[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_03] I'm changing some details, and obviously I'm not saying exactly where this was, but my family is Creole, and we're from deep south in Louisiana. My grandma practiced voodoo, and before anybody starts acting weird about that, she wasn't sacrificing animals in the backyard or sticking pens in dolls or any of the movie stuff. She knew herbs and roots, and she prayed over people,
[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_03] made teas and washes, and she knew how to treat things that doctors couldn't or wouldn't fix. Things people in our community had been treating at home for generations. She also believed in doctors and hospitals, so we aren't one of those families where nobody is allowed to get real medicine. Kids weren't allowed in the room when she was working, and nobody really explained why. We were just told to stay out of the way.
[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_03] This happened when I was around 14 or 15. I know I wasn't driving yet because one of my cousins had dropped me off back at my grandma's house after we had been fishing, and it had been raining all day, so I was soaked and mad because my shoes were full of mud. There was an old truck parked outside that I didn't recognize, but that wasn't unusual because people were always coming by.
[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_03] I walked through the side door, and the first thing I noticed was that the TV wasn't on. My grandma always either had the news or gospel music playing, even if she wasn't watching it, so the house being completely quiet felt strange before I even saw anything. She was in the kitchen, and there was a man sitting at the table. He looked rough. His shirt was ripped around the shoulder, and there was dry blood on one sleeve.
[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_03] His hands had cuts across them that looked deep enough for stitches. He had mud all over his jeans and boots too, like real dark swamp mud. So my first thought was that he had gotten lost somewhere or been attacked by an animal, maybe a gator or a dog or something. My grandma wasn't cleaning the cuts. She was checking him over, like she was looking for something else. She checked his pulse for a long time,
[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_03] looked inside his mouth, pulled one of the eyelids down, did the other one, and kept asking him to look at her, but he wouldn't. And that's the part that I remember the clearest. He was sitting there completely still, staring at the wall behind her. I don't think I saw him blink one time. I know that's a cliche and these creepy stories, but I swear, I stood there long enough to notice because it started making me uncomfortable. Tears were running down his face,
[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_03] but he wasn't crying like normal. He wasn't making a sound and his face wasn't moving. He wasn't wiping the tears away either. They were just coming out of his eyes while he stared straight ahead. My grandma kept checking him and talking under her breath. I couldn't hear everything that she was saying, but I know some of it was prayer. She didn't ask where he had been or what had attacked him, which didn't seem weird to me at the time,
[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_03] but it does now, because you'd think that would be the first question. I don't know how long I had been standing there in the hallway when he finally spoke. It was so quiet that I almost didn't hear him. He said, I thought it was him. He looked like him. My grandma stopped what she was doing. She didn't ask who he meant and she didn't look confused. She closed her eyes for a second and then said, I know.
[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_03] And that was it. He started breathing weird after that, like he was trying not to panic, but he still didn't move or look at her. My grandma finally saw me and told me to go change my clothes because I was getting mud on the floor. Her voice sounded completely normal, which honestly scared me more than if she would have yelled at me. I went to the bedroom and I stayed there for a while. I could hear them moving around later,
[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_03] but I couldn't make out what they were saying. The truck was gone before dinner. I asked my grandma that night who the man was and she said that he was somebody who needed help. I asked what happened to him and she smiled and said that I asked too many questions. She always did that when she didn't want to answer something, so I let it go. I never saw him again and nobody ever brought it up. I had honestly forgotten most of it
[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_03] until we started cleaning out her house after she passed away. She had a lot of notebooks. Most of it was just normal stuff. Recipes, herbs, Bible verses, phone numbers, notes about people that she had treated. Things like fever, burn, baby not sleeping, infection, headaches. Stuff that made sense. Then I found one notebook that was different. There were dates, but most of the pages didn't have names, just short notes. Some of them said,
[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_03] came in through the window or mimicked her mother's voice. Found outside praying. Kept asking to be let inside. Didn't remember walking there. Heard it from the water. And one that just said, smiled with his brother's face. There were a lot more, but I didn't read all of them because my mom came in and took the notebook out of my hands. I asked her what it was and she said it was private
[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_03] and belonged to grandma. I told her about the man I saw when I was a kid and she got this look on her face like she knew exactly who I was talking about. Then said that I was probably misremembering it. I asked her what the notes were referring to and she told me to leave it alone. I asked her what mimicked her mother's voice meant. She got mad at me and said that grandma spent her whole life helping people and I needed to respect that. I wasn't accusing her of anything.
[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_03] I just wanted an answer. But she wouldn't give me one. Maybe the man was having some kind of mental health crisis. Maybe he had been attacked by an animal and was in shock and maybe my grandma wrote down weird things that people said while they were sick. I know there are normal explanations for parts of this. What I can't explain is why she already knew what he meant when he said he thought it was him or why she had years of notes about different people
[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_03] seeing or hearing something that copied voices came through windows waited to be invited and sometimes looked like somebody they knew. I keep thinking about how calm she was that day. She wasn't trying to figure out what happened to him. She was checking to see how far it had gotten.
[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_02] I remember my parents' first kiss before I was born by Dreamgirl94. This is something very special to me and my family. My mother is still alive but my father passed away a few years ago. It's not a story I tell many people. It's just part of my reality and I don't need validation from the outside world. However, it is something I carried with me in my heart for the first 40 years
[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_02] of my life before I told my parents. Their input did matter which was one reason I was so scared to tell them. The memory was so real for me and such a part of who I was as a person that their denial of the event would have crushed me as a child or even as a young adult. Have you ever had a memory like that? You know it's real but you're terrified to talk about it just in case the other person
[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_02] tells you it didn't happen. That's what it was like. Now I understand how a lot of people may think I have this memory because it may have been a family story I heard about and then thought it was my own memory but that was not the case. My mom and dad had some complications around their union so their love story was a daily lived one and not the history they talked about with us kids.
[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_02] They didn't want us to feel any shame around all the drama so we only knew the basics of them meeting when my mom was a car hop and how dad had a dog who drank from a straw. At least that was the line he used to pick up her mom. So this little detail is one we never heard about. In fact when I finally got the nerve to tell my folks about the memory they both sat there frozen with their jaws dropped. They both had almost immediately forgotten about the event
[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_02] not because it lacked significance but because life happens long after the kissing turns into pecs. Well what I told them was this I had a complete memory of being in the shape of an orb-like thing some sort of ball and the memory starts as I come down one evening into a restaurant where they're seated. The thing is this the restaurant was small lit by candles
[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_02] on the table with flowers and no other people. The man and young woman were talking and he was sharing a very deep story about a tragic event that happened with his mother when he was a child. He was talking about how he felt alone in the hospital with her while his dad was off drinking. While she mostly recovered from the event the wound inside the little boy stayed in his heart even as he became a soldier
[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_02] in World War II and made his way as a man. At that point he went to the back and got some food out. He heated it up on the stove but he was still crying a bit. He also didn't want his date to see him crying. The woman at the table was feeling such tenderness and compassion towards the man. The next part of the memory is the two of them going outside and walking around the edge of a lake on a wooden boardwalk.
[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_02] The moon was almost full and very bright. Stars were out. This is when they had their first kiss. I felt a wave of pure love wash over the entire universe. I felt my future mom's heart fall in love and I said in my soul to hers as I left and went up into the sky. I will be back soon. I forgot to mention both parents confirmed
[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_02] all details of that event. My dad had a friend who owned a small restaurant. It only served lunch by the lake. He let him use it for that date and had made food for them and that was exactly when my parents fell in love. I was there to pick out my parents that night. I specifically wanted to experience and see what true human love was like and they showed me. I was not disappointed.
[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_03] I astrally projected where I was not supposed to by Zizo Live. Ever since I was little I've experienced lucid dreams and occasional astral projection while sleeping. Back then I couldn't really control it. In the past I've projected into small forests near my house to observe birds and their chicks. They always seemed to know that I was there but were never scared.
[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_03] Over time I stopped doing it but a few years ago I decided to give astral projection another try. I came across a method where you would visualize a rope hanging from the ceiling and imagine pulling yourself up to lift your body out of physical space. The person sharing the technique suggested visualizing a specific destination that you wanted to visit while sleeping. I practiced this method for a few days
[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_03] without success but I wasn't too concerned because I was just doing it for fun. Then one night I tried again this time playing the meditation music I usually listen to. I actually fell asleep but I focused on traveling back to my home planet. I know its name but I prefer to keep that private. When I woke up my immediate thought was I made it but I quickly realized I wasn't on my planet
[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_03] I was still on earth. I wasn't walking I was kind of hovering above the ground and my body was completely transparent. I looked around and I found myself in a vast desert like landscape. There were no roads, houses or signs of civilization just empty wasteland. I had never seen a place like this before. I then looked ahead and what I saw shocked me. There were massive shipping containers scattered
[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_03] around the kind that you would use as cover in a video game. Suddenly a group of men emerged from one of the containers moving slowly in a high ready tactical stance. They were definitely human wearing all black tactical gear, helmets and carrying firearms. They were laser focused. It didn't feel like a routine military exercise or a training drill. And honestly it didn't feel like their targets were human either. I had an
[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_03] overwhelming sinking feeling that something was very wrong. Because of my state they couldn't see me. They all appeared to be highly experienced operators. I couldn't tell if they were American forces or another group, especially since their eyes were covered by helmets equipped with dark visors or thermal goggles. It was daytime and the heat in the environment was intense. I don't know how else to make sense of
[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_03] it, but this is exactly what I experienced. Does anybody recognize this type of gear or uniform? Or have an idea of what kind of operation or target this might have been?
[00:29:09] [SPEAKER_02] August is a great time to refresh your wardrobe before fall, and Quince makes it easy. They focus on fewer, better essentials made from premium materials, like organic cotton teas and Mongolian cashmere sweaters. They have high-quality denim and tailored chinos starting at just $60. The pieces are timeless, versatile, and designed to last. By working directly with ethical factories and cutting out traditional markups,
[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_02] Quince offers luxury-level quality for 50-80% less than comparable brands. And Quince goes well beyond clothing with hotel-quality bedding, bath essentials, cookware, and travel staples. I'm a fan of everything I've used from Quince. I put a set of their Turkish ultra-plush bath towels in my guest bathroom, and I've had more than one person accuse me of stealing them from a fancy hotel. I'm not a thief, but I am happy to
[00:30:09] [SPEAKER_02] set the record straight and promote their products. In fact, next time somebody asks me where I got my towels, I plan to say something like, upgrade your everyday, download the Quince app for app-exclusive offers, or go to quince.com slash trails, get free shipping on your order, and 365-day returns, now available in Canada and the UK too. That's
[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_02] quince.com slash trails.

[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_02] The Friend Who Wasn't There by Gary D. Hey there, Gary D. here up in Ontario, Canada, with another one of my, what I would call, real head-scratcher life experiences. I'm not really sure what to make of it, thinking back on it now. Was it a hallucination? A ghostly apparition? Or perhaps simply a glitch in the matrix? Or was it something else?
[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_02] So, back when I was in middle school, I had quickly made friends with another student, who seemed to be on my same exact wavelength, when it came to a lot of things. We ended up playing on the same school football team together. Over the years, we visited each other's houses, and had gotten to know each other's families. At the end of my 8th grade school year, my family visited Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. It was a long drive, for sure,
[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_02] but we were used to the routine. As we approached the outskirts of Yellowstone Park, my dad suddenly realized that we were so low on gas, and basically running on fumes. I was bored and sort of just looking around, when I suddenly noticed this big old station wagon pull up to another pump. You know, the old station wagon that had the paneling on it, like you'd see back in the 70s or 80s. Not far from where I was
[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_02] standing, this thing pulls in maybe 30 feet away or so, and what happened next totally blew my mind. Once it came to a complete stop, all four doors opened at the same time, and my mouth kind of dropped open. And wouldn't you know it, out steps my buddy Reese, along with the rest of his family? Now, what are the odds of that? Remember, we'd all driven down from Ontario,
[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_02] Canada, and we were now sitting in some random gas station in Wyoming. That's gotta be a one in a million. So on seeing this, I kind of perked up and yelled over, Reese, Reese, and was waving my hands around. He immediately looked over at me. What was so odd, though, was that he and the rest of his family, they seemed to look strangely pale, and almost gray. Kind of like I was
[00:33:44] [SPEAKER_02] watching them on some old staticky TV from the 1950s. And when we made eye contact, I smiled and happily waved to him again. But he and his family's reaction was very strange. They just stood there, and stared at me blankly, and showed absolutely no emotion. They almost looked like they were all kind of in a deep trance or something. I just remember it being very,
[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_02] very weird. I was confused and thought maybe they didn't recognize me. Or like, were they all mad at me for some reason? It was just strange. So the next thing I know, they all just slowly, kind of like they were moving in slow motion or something, started getting back into the station wagon, then they just drove away. Very, very strange. Unfortunately,
[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_02] nobody in my family saw this to back up my story. Once we all had gotten back into the car, I remember telling them what had just happened. They basically laughed it off and said it was probably some random family that just happened to look like Reese's family. Because what are the odds with being so far away from home? And plus, they didn't seem to recognize me, so they were probably strangers. But I'm so sure about what I saw.
[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_02] A few weeks later, after returning home from our trip, I immediately contacted Reese. The very first thing I said to him was like, what the hell? Why did you ignore me like that? He acted totally confused and replied, what are you talking about? When did I ignore you? Come on, you know damn well what I'm talking about. I'm talking about when I saw you and your family at the gas station just outside of Yellowstone.
[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_02] You all acted like you didn't know me, and then you just got in your car and drove off. What are you talking about, Yellowstone? Yeah, I waved and called you over at the gas pumps, and all you guys did was just stand there like a bunch of zombies. And then Reese said, there's no way you could have seen me and my family at that gas station, because we haven't left town or gone anywhere all summer, so I don't know who
[00:36:14] [SPEAKER_02] or what you saw out there.
[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_03] Alright, let's jump into the feedback. Alex, referencing episode 66 way, way back, Alex says, whoa! Yes, he did. I've been a long time listener, but I've only recently revisited the podcast again, and I'm so shocked to learn that you covered my story. Hi there, I'm Alex from the first story in episode 66. In all honesty, I forgot that I even submitted this story here,
[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_03] or posted it somewhere on Reddit, but I remember writing this years ago. Thank you so much for covering it, though I'm also curious what you guys thought of it. I hope you guys can do a follow-up one of these days. Thanks again. And yeah, we've said it before, but we can't cover every single story that we do in the podcast, but I have a pretty good memory about this, don't you?
[00:37:23] [SPEAKER_02] Yeah, no, it was really good. I had to refresh my memory, but I do remember reading it way back in episode 66, and I remember liking it because the experience itself was really simple, just a voice saying Alex's name, but the repetition, the timing with every blink, and how young he was, that made it really unsettling for me, at least as I was reading it. Whether it was paranormal or something his half-asleep mind created during the storm, it stayed with him in a very real way, and that
[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_02] counts for something. For those who don't remember it, back in episode 66, as we mentioned three times now, maybe four. 66,
[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_03] three times. Ooh,
[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_02] yeah, yeah.
[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_03] Hail Nero.
[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_02] Mm-hmm. Yeah, Alex was, he was five, and it happened during a typhoon in the Philippines, and he repeatedly heard this unknown woman's voice calling his name from the dark, and I won't spoil the rest, but it's worth going back to listen. I can't vouch for my narration back then, I still can't, but either way, the story stands for itself.
[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah, we need to do a best of episode real soon, because I know people love hearing those old stories. I do that with Let's Not Meet pretty often, at least every few months, and people love them. I do, too, because I get to go back and listen to stories that I hadn't heard in years, so maybe we'll throw that on a best of coming up. Yeah,
[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_02] I think we usually do it quarterly. We've had four, maybe five, so maybe less than quarterly, but yeah, sounds good.
[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_03] We try not to do it too often so you guys get new material, but yeah, in my experience, listeners love that stuff, and I love it,
[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_02] about in the past, so it's still fresh.
[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_03] Oh yeah, yeah, that's what I mean, yeah, yeah, cool. For sure. We have a few more comments. Ruth Ann said, I love your podcast, I listened to practically all of them, and I'm always impressed with the experiences of your contributors. I like your wrap-up at the end, you have the coolest artwork, and a shout out to our friend Keith, Heavy Mental, you can check him out on Instagram. I especially love your music, have you ever talked about it, such as who wrote it,
[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_03] maybe you could tell us about it, it really starts the spookiness before you even begin the stories. We do all of our music, we don't outsource it for Let's Not Meet, I did all the music there, Brandon and I worked together on the music for this show, that's us.
[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_02] Oh yeah, it was a lot of fun, and I'm still trying to get those audio stems from you, bud, trying to do some remasters here, but maybe we can just start it from scratch.
[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah, I've got to revive my old laptop, it's in there somewhere, if I can even find it.
[00:40:00] [SPEAKER_02] At least the notes and the melody, that's what we really need. I could play it out. C minor, you know, yeah. I could give you the MIDI files. Cool, that works, that works. And then Katya Rath, back in episode 33, pretty cool that people are commenting on such old episodes, they say, the twin marrying twin thing, the math is that if both pairs are identical, their children are genetically full siblings while technically being cousins. Yeah, that's pretty cool to think
[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_02] about, even though they're cousins, they share half of their DNA on paper, like actual siblings, and if my math is correct, normal cousins would share like an eighth, something like that?
[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah, I think so. Yeah, I looked into this recently when I used Ancestry.com, it was pretty interesting to see what you can find on there anyway. So let's get into some stories. I want to talk about the disappearing car specifically because of my personal experience. So, yeah, this author was following this car, this Mini Cooper, it turned right into a dead end. It was just this roundabout that's completely fenced in, and the car disappeared. There was nowhere to be found.
[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_03] And I love this story because just the other night, and I talked about this on Discord, just the other night I was on a walk listening to an audiobook, and I'm on the right side of the road on the sidewalk. Somebody's backing out of their driveway so I have to stop and let them back out. They turn their wheel to the right so that they go behind me as they're turning out into the street, which puts them behind the car that's parked on the street so they kind of go out of my view
[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_03] for a second on my left, if all that makes sense. I take a few steps past the car that's on my left on the side of the road, I turn my head left and the car's gone. It just disappeared. I messaged everybody in Discord the moment that it happened. You can check the time stamp. It was like eight or nine o'clock at night. I was like, what the fuck just happened? I just saw a glitch in the Matrix. I turned around, I went back and I couldn't find this car. I looked at it, I saw what the car was. I couldn't find it anywhere. It just
[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_03] disappeared completely. I had awareness mode on my headphones, so I would have heard it if it revved up and drove off really
[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_02] quickly. I got nothing. That's wild. It's so weird, man. Did it have its headlights on and the headlights disappeared too? Yeah,
[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_03] it was weird.
[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_02] It was really weird. It's hard to even explain
[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_03] how it happened. I don't know. I got nothing. Wow. It was weird that I ended up getting this story this week.
[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_02] It's meant to be. Really cool story overall. I liked how it happened in broad daylight. I think that makes it stranger and it wasn't just some 3 a.m. type of thing, just a normal afternoon drive. Spooky stuff. Yeah, on to some more strange things. How about that collection, short collection, but a collection nonetheless, of UFO encounters from Adam and his whole family? I thought it was interesting because it's just three different kinds of UFO experiences all happening within one family. Is it
[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_02] all just coincidence when multiple family members have unexplained experiences? I don't know, maybe,
[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_03] maybe not. No. I think it's a quote from Seinfeld, I can't remember correctly, but there are no big coincidences. You know what I mean? There's small coincidences, but there are no big coincidences. Yeah,
[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_02] very, very fair. And then his dad's story, having independent corroboration, the confirmation from the neighbor years later, two people seen the same thing years apart without even realizing it, and it was something so specific to that craft with the light and no sound. Something was up there, no pun intended, up in the sky, haha.
[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_03] At this point in our culture, aliens and UFOs are the easiest thing to accept in the world of the quote-unquote paranormal, or the strange, or the unknown. Easily. Everybody. I don't know anybody that wouldn't accept the idea of life beyond Earth existing and visiting us. Especially with what we've seen released from government and whistleblower stuff. It's silly. We don't even
[00:44:15] [SPEAKER_03] have to theorize about it. We can just accept it. They saw UFOs. Of course they did.
[00:44:22] [SPEAKER_02] Too many reputable people coming out and saying, yeah, I'll say what I can tell you, which I don't like, but I get it. They don't want to be tapped on the shoulder and executed, but something's there.
[00:44:32] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah, I want the one guy that's just like, you know what, I'm going to sacrifice my life for this. I'm telling you everything. I'm showing you all the footage.
[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_02] Screw it. Bad things could happen. I'm sure there are some spooky men in black out there who definitely threaten these people into silence, but still, there should be some dead man switch where when you die, you can just release it all and we can do with it what we will.
[00:44:52] [SPEAKER_03] So, it was very cool to finally get a voodoo story on the podcast. I found it to be very informative and interesting. It got me researching the phenomena or I guess the practice rather. So, the author already laid out there all their skeptical opinions pretty well, so I won't do my usual thing and dissect it. Instead, I just want to talk about how many strange accounts that the grandma wrote about in her notebook after she
[00:45:22] [SPEAKER_03] passed away. And most of it really confirms what the author saw and experienced when they were a kid. And the grandma wrote down all these phrases that they, I'm assuming they heard their patients say, I say patients because she was treating people with voodoo. They were saying phrases like, it kept asking to be let inside. I didn't remember walking there or it smiled with my brother's face. All these lines on the surface
[00:45:51] [SPEAKER_03] without even hearing anything else. It seems like the grandma was dealing with some kind of black-eyed kids or even vampiric entities with phrases like, it's asking to be let in. It's almost like a case of everything odd trails in this story. the entity smiled with the brother's face. Lines like that. I found it to be really interesting
[00:46:21] [SPEAKER_03] because, yeah, it's just so many things that we cover on odd trails. It's almost like she dealt with the whole gamut of the supernatural.
[00:46:28] [SPEAKER_02] She wasn't reacting like she was trying to diagnose what happened. She just already recognized some sort of pattern and then had these notebook entries that made it sound like it wasn't just one isolated incident, something she was quietly dealing with over the years.
[00:46:42] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah, I did some research on Afro-Caribbean spiritual traditions because this is all new to me. I found it very interesting and everything in the notebook really covered a lot of the specific traits of the culture. The emphasis on eye contact, checking in the mouth, checking the pulse. It all aligns with the diagnostic rituals that you find with someone encountering these types of entities in that culture. Or if they were possessed. So she
[00:47:12] [SPEAKER_03] definitely knew what she was doing. This author is genuine for sure.
[00:47:18] [SPEAKER_02] No, it's really interesting.
[00:47:19] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah, I learned a lot just from that one story.
[00:47:21] [SPEAKER_02] Now on to a sweet little sentimental story from Dream Girl 94. That name does sound familiar. I could have sworn we've featured a story from her before. And yeah, it's sweet. It speaks to how much her parents love each other. And it's was meant to have.
[00:47:40] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah, we did actually feature a story from them. It was called My Soulmate Visited Me in My Dreams by Dream Girl 94. That was back in episode 227, not that long ago earlier this year.
[00:47:53] [SPEAKER_02] So that's two from her of some sort of premonition of how life was going to play out for really cool.
[00:47:59] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah, I liked going through season one and two recently, right?
[00:48:11] [SPEAKER_02] Yeah, I kind of hit a snag, but yeah, I'm going to finish it. I had to get into Queen's Gambit. I didn't realize it was only seven episodes and I'm so mad at myself because I'm an avid chess player. I just didn't want to devote the time. Saw it was seven episodes. I'm like, oh, wow, I'm stupid and I just binged through it. So, I'm going to get back into Twin Peaks now.
[00:48:30] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah, definitely do it and you'll be excited when you get to season three. It's very cool. But there's some stuff in season three that looks like they took a page right out of this person's book. It's very cool. Them visiting as an orb into this reality is so cool. I loved this one. I love it. Send it over to stories at odd trails dot com.
